A perfect gift for art and jazz lovers alike. This is a beautiful book in every way. The selection of art juxtaposed with the intriguing range of literary excerpts combine to make the reader do exactly what the editors want: to "see" jazz. I bought extra copies as Christmas gifts.

Was this the book that was referred to in the play "ART"?My friends and I saw the play "ART" in Los Angeles, with Alan Alda and two other very fine actors. The book Seneca was mentioned. The play was about a man buying a white on white painting and the relationship thereafter with his two friends.

Shake Rag: From the Life of Elvis Presley
Published in School & Library Binding by Philomel Books (October, 1998)
Average review score:

The King Lives!I orginally purchased this book for my Mom who is a real huge Elvis Presley fan. She was delighted to add this book to her evergrowing collection of Elvis thins. One day, while listening to an Elvis CD - my four year old started asking questions about Elvis. Talk about coincidence! We pulled out the book and Grandma read the story based on Elvis's beginnings. She had tears in her eyes remembering how Elvis came from nothing and rose to such awesomeness. My four year old loved the book too. A great gift for an Elvis fan or for reading and teaching a young child about his life. Nicely written for children to understand and beatuifully illustrated. A must have!!!

Comprehensible meaning for teachersThis book is an excellent tool for teachers seeking to improve their instructional practices. It is also a very useful tool for teacher trainers who wish to help educators in the process of reaching English Language learners (ELLs). It explains how effective teachers can reach ELLs. Although short, every page is worth reading.

Silence, Simplicity & Solitude: A Complete Guide to Spiritual Retreat
Published in Paperback by SkyLight Paths Publishing (March, 1999)
Average review score:

ProfoundBrilliantly written, consice and as spiritual as any holy book around. The best compliment that I can give to Mr. Cooper's writing(s) is that when I read them I feel calm inside. His "Heart of Stillness" and this book both seem to have been written from the heart and resonate among other things a deep sense of honesty and simplicity. Read both these books... they return the time you invest in them in ways that can only be experienced and not be expressed using words.

Just loved it!A great work by Fiona Cooper. I really empathized with Caz and felt her pain and loss as though they were my own. A simple, well written book that deals with both the fairy tale and the realistic side of life.
